On Sunday morning, we’ll head to Virginia’s On King for one of Charleston’s most iconic Southern-style brunches. If you want to be real authentic, try the Shrimp & Grits or a bowl of She-Crab Soup. We’ll order a magnum of mimosas and let the good times flow with new friends.
We’ll walk off our brunch with a trip to historic Fort Sumter via ferry boat in the Charleston Harbor. This Civil War icon is a must-visit in Charleston, and the ferry ride itself is a lovely, relaxing tour of the Lowcountry and it’s beautiful landscape.
In the evening, Carolina Cookery will prepare a traditional Lowcountry Boil for us at the home of a true Gullah-Geechee family. We’ll sit around the communal table and get our hands dirty with seasoned shrimp, sausage, corn and potatoes and, of course, lots of beer and sweet tea to wash it all down.
If you haven’t gotten your fill, head out on the town for one last hurrah before returning to real life in the morning.
